Mattias Fridell's Free Sample Pack

Mattias Fridell has released a free sample pack featuring sounds from his personal archive plus samples used in his projects.
The collection is split in 9 folders: bottom loops, chords and stabs, elements, hi hats, kicks, noise and dirt, percussion, various tools and xtra.There are also two demo tracks in MP3 format.

Half of the samples are taken from various projects and the other half is specially created for this mini package and those sounds have never been included in my productions.

The samples are peaking at approx -4dB to give you some headroom for further processing with the sounds (unlike most commercial sample packs where all samples are heavily processed at 0dB and give you no real room to process the samples further). The samples are processed with several effects and synthesis to give them a unique character suitable for all kinds of electronic music really though the main focus for me has been Techno in various shapes.

Ueberschall Free Elastik Player & Free Soundbank

Ueberschall has released a new free soundbank for Elastik VSTi. This freeware consists in over 400 MB of high quality sounds (we're talking about Ueberschall!) useable with their free player- Elastik.

Elastik is a flexible player in VST format that can be loaded also in FL Studio. It comes in standalone and RTAS versions too.

• install the player- place it in your VST folder where you usually install plugins (DLL files)- usually is  C:\Program Files\VstPlugins;
• open FL Studio and on Sampler right clck and select Replace, then More, then Fast Scan. Elastik will be in red, select it;
• Elastik will play only the demo sounds, about ten sounds, to have all the 410 MB of sounds you have to locate your downloaded bank: on Elastik player click the 'Elastik' button on top, then click 'Setup' and then 'Add'. Locate your downloaded bank: the bank is Ueberschall_Demo_12-2012.elastik
• An agreement shows: click the box, ok and ENJOY!

The steps in images:

1. Load the player into FL Studio: install it in C:\Program Files\VstPlugins, open FL Studio- right- click on a Sampler- Replace- More- Fast Scan (Recommended)- Elastik 2 (red color);

2. If you click 'Elastik' button then 'Setup' you will see only the demo soundbank located at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ueberschall . To load the additional free soundbank click the 'Add' button and locate the bank- in the folder where you downloaded and extracted it. Locate this file: Ueberschall_Demo_12-2012.elastik

3. A License Agreement will pop up: select the box and click Ok

4. The 2011 Soundbank will be loaded and ready for use!

TJ Voicenoise Kit

ADF-Music has released  TJ Voicenoise Kit, a free sample set containing human voice sounds in 16Bit WAV format.

Made a sample-kit with recorded voicenoises – maybe someone finds some use for it.
The tj_voicenoise-kit is a sampleset with shorter or longer human voices with wave-files in 16Bit format (slightly processed through a compressor) for Battery 3.1 (+) and Kontakt 3.5 (+).

IsoRhythm Kicks Christmas's Ass Sample Pack

IsoRhythm has released IsoRhythm Kicks Christmas's Ass, a free sample pack containing 21 Kick Drums sourced directly from an Elektron Machinedrum SPS-I.

The recording chain was simply the Machinedrum into a DBX 160x compressor, 2:1 ratio, about 6db of gain reduction (varied slightly per kick), directly into the line in's of an Avid Omni. About half of the samples are totally straight from the recording, plus some eq and compression, and the other half are kicks from the Machinedrum layered together.

Johan Brodd has released JBM Klumpeduns, a free noise generator VST instrument for Windows OS.

Any neighbours who needs to be annoyed? Or is your needs purely directed towards noise in common? There is circuit bent punk consoles, and this is a vst version. Comes with 16 presets, and it is really raw and unforgiving when playing it.

The synth consists of 3 saw tooth oscilators each one interconnected via FM synthesis to each other. The result is a digital menacing powerhouse of the most unholy noises you guys can imagine. Don't try to make music with this beast, because it wasn't ment to make music with in the first place.

SafFronSE Soundfont Player VSTi

Fretted Synth Audio has released SafFronSE, a free SoundFont player- perfect for layering soundfonts!

SafFronSE is an update to the original SafFron MIDI triggered sound font synth with a beautiful UI by Vera Kinter (ArtVera).

Updates in SE version:

• Made with the current version of SynthEdit (should fix use of multiple instances of SafFron).
• Can now load sound fonts with layers and velocity splits.
• Load up to three sound fonts with separate controls for on\off, level, pan, course and fine tuning.
• Updated filter with separate envelopes for cutoff and resonance.
• Added a five band equalizer and limiter (the limiter is only designed to work with fast peaks, pushing it too hard with sustained material will result in a not pretty distortion).
• Updated all of the effects.

To load soundfonts click 'Open' button on top and browse your soundfonts folder. To select multiple soundfonts (up to three), repeat again this step, but instead of button number one selected, use layer two and then three. The 'On' button must be selected in layering mode to each layer loaded with soundfonts.

Via KVR Audio forums we discovered a great resource for sound collectors- a huge freeware soundfonts collection which is growing daily.

The sf2 collection is hosted by HG Fortune and is mantained by HG Fortune VSTi users. Contributors are also still wanted.

Weird Loops Vol. 1 is a free colection created by FLStudioMusic- there are 18 short loops available. We covered a wide range of styles, from syncopated drums to unusual effects and scary pianos.

All 18 loops are in 16 Bit WAV format, tempos from 76 to 130 BPM. The pack is 21 MB RAR and 26.3 MB when is extracted.



The loops were created using different distortion plugins, all of them were chopped and destroyed with no mercy and the final result was a small taste of madness. Enjoy!

Soniccouture Abstrakt Vol.1

Soniccouture has re-released Abstrakt Vol.1, their first sample pack ever, previously discontinued. The collection consists in 250 MB of athmospheric samples and Kontakt instruments.
This revived pack is available for registered users, registration is free.

We have re-released our first product as freeware - the scripting and graphics may look a little old fashioned, but the sounds still sound pretty fresh to us! We include the original scripts - more developed versions of these are to be found in our script product Scriptorium.

Soundiron Snack Samplepack

Soundiron has released via KVR Audio forums- Soundiron Snack a free sample pack containing sounds recorded using a... cat. The sounds were manipulated and the result is a collection of 24 samples- ambiental sounds, kicks, snares plus cat meow effects- in WAV format and NKI Kontakt (9 instruments).

Mike's cat Snack does stupid pet tricks for food, like jumping through hoops. a goofy little video turned into a goofy little sample library when somebody suggested sampling Snack. We flipped on our recorder and that was that. After a bit of digital manipulation and sound design, a cool little batch of ambiences and percussion elements were born.

dBVU VST

Dustin Ralston from Sleepy-Time Records has released an updated version of dBVU- a gain/ balance/ VU meter VST plugin for Microsoft Windows 32-bit and 64-bit.

I couldn’t sleep tonight so I did some behind-the-scenes maintenance on dBVU. Nothing very noteworthy.. Just some code organization and some better handling of denormals in the meter code. I also moved some less important processes out of the sample loop and into the block.

Specifications:

• VU Needle Calibration: 0dBVU = -20dBFS (Default). Adjustable setting between -20 and -12dBFS;
• VU Meter Range: -20dB to +3dB;
• Response Time: 300ms with ~1% overshoot;
• Clip LED Calibration: 0dBFS. LED's will glow as peak levels approach 0dBFS;
• Gain Control: -20dB to +20dB;
• Balance Control: -100% to 100% (Left to Right);
• Metering Modes: User-selectable Left (L), Right (R), and Stereo. Average (A) modes.

Waveshaper Electronic Drumkits

Waveshaper has released (for a limited time only) a free pack containing over 100 exclusive electronic drum samples in WAV format. All samples were recorded from analogue sources and processed with vintage hardware effects and digital plugins.

Great care has been taken with the stereo content management and adding some smooth reverberation to give the samples a bit more coloration. So this is not strictly raw, dry files, but more unique samples already infused with their own character.

Binaural 02 | Aluminum Cans

Ongelegen has released the second pack from Binaural collection- Aluminum Cans, a free sample pack featuring sounds of aluminum cans.

The second soundpack from ONGELEGEN features sounds of aluminum cans. Once again I've tried to capture as many interesting sounds as possible. During this recording session alot of cans were tortured and mutilated. All sounds are recorded and edited @ 24 Bit, 96 kHz.

The pack is 311 MB in size and contains 250 twisted metal sound effects: dropping, hitting, tearing, bending cans etc. There is also available a PDF file with the full list of sounds.

Modulator VST

Homegrown Sounds released Modulator, a free modulation effect VST plugin that comes with 31 pre-built high quality presets.

Modulator does what it says on the tin, it uses an LFO which can then be used to create many modulation style effects such as Flangers, Phasers, Ring Modulators etc… The LFO can also be swapped for an Envelope follower which will use the incoming sound level as the modulation source in various ways.

This little plugin includes flanger, phasers, low/ band/ hi pass filters, frequency modulation, pitch shift, chorus, ring modulation, gapper, autopan, low shelf, hi shelf, notch, peak, decimator and modulation delays.
