beatassist has announced the release of Nasty Looper, a free drum machine VST instrument for Windows.
This might be one of the best free offers of drum machines in the market. Nasty Looper has 16 pad cells that you may load with 16 or 24-bit .wav samples, map into your MIDI Controller for further writing on the Piano Roll of your DAW.
Almost Every parameter of Nasty Looper may be mapped into a MIDI Controller control, providing yourself the possibility of perform Live and Improvised sessions of music very quickly.
The first 12 pad cells are reserved for one shot samples where you can apply various effects like delay, filters etc, you can reverse, mute, loop, adjust pitch and tone of sounds and many more. The last four pad cells are for loops only. You can play you any loop just by configuring the beats number, tweak the start and the end, add some effects including delay and filter stepper.
I spent about an hour with this drum machine, mapping controls is easy, making it a fun to play associated with your MIDI controller. While the overall feel might be slow and rigid, Nasty Looper, no doubt is one of the best free offers of drum machines in the market until now. The sounds included with are very usable, there are several basses, effects, percussions, drums, synths and more.
By default it installs in C:\Program Files (x86)\beatassist.eu\Nasty Looper 1.0\ so you’ll need to copy & paste the .dll file manually in your VST folder. I recommend to move also the soundbank there.
Nasty Looper free drum machine comes with demo soundbanks provided by beatassist, Loopmasters and VIPsoundlab. It runs on Windows XP/ Vista/ 7/ 8 32-bit and 64-bit (bridged).
