MaxSynths has announced that all its previously commercial plugins are now available for free.

The message at MaxSynths explains why:

I want to say thanks to all customers which supported me over the years. By the way currently I’m having some personal problems which prevents me to be active as in the past.

This makes impossible for me to provide further support and updates on these products so I think it’s time to make them available as freeware. By the way if you like these plugins and want to offer me a coffee this is really appreciated!

The plugins in question are (in brackets is the price at which they sold): Bass Module (€19.99), Crisalys (€39.99), Cryologic (€39.90), DR-910 (€24.99), DSP-1 (€16.90), DSP-2 Vocal (€19.90), DSP-3 Bus Dynamic Processor (€19.90), Latte (€19.90), Nero (€24.90) and WTS-1 (€9.90).

My favourite instrument at MaxSynths is Latte, a synthesizer inspired by the old synthesizers from the past, which is able to produce powerful synth sounds, fat basses, expressive leads, crazy sounds and more. As effect, I recommend DSP-3, a cool dynamics processor specifically designed to be used on the main bus. Its main purpose is to increase the perceived loudness of the track and make the mix more compact without introducing any distortion or audible artifacts.

It is sad that talented developers like MaxSynths come out of business (whatever the reason), but on the other side it is an enormous opportunity here for all producers to renew their arsenal of plugins. And it is commendable that MaxSynths decided to provide valuable resources for free to the growing (and often poor) community of music producers. Respect!
