BeatMaker returns with SL Drums 3, free drum machine ROMpler instrument plugin for Windows and Mac.
As main highlights, SL Drums 3 brings a number of new parameters, but also includes the ability to route each sound/pad to a selected channel of your DAW’s mixer. The third version has now a global distortion module and reverb layers, meaning each pad can have its reverb amount.
SL Drums 3 has a simple and intuitive GUI with 8 pad channels, each with its own pan, release, level and reverb controls. Personally, I dig the look and the simplicity of it. I tested it in FL Studio and I like the versatility of the kits and the overall feel – it rivals the similar commercial products released in Maize Sampler. I made a quick video walkthrough showcasing some presets. I used a MIDI pad controller. (see at the beginning of this article)
This free drum machine ROMpler has a total of 75 various drum kits, 16 of them being completely new (added with the current version). The kits are suitable for a wide range of styles, from hip-hop to trap, pop to breakbeat, EDM to RnB and so on.
I also like that SL Drums gets free updates like any commercial plugin and the sounds contained are 100% royalty free. Good job, BeatMaker!
SL Drums 3 is PC and Mac compatible and available as 32 and 64-bit (VST/AU). It is also compatible for MacOS Sierra. The download size is 680MB compressed ZIP file. No registration required.
