The Unfinished releases Massive Polaris + 20 free presets

The Unfinished has released Massive Polaris, a commercial soundset for Native Instruments Massive featuring classic synths replicas. A free sound pack containing 20 presets is available for instant download.

The project was born out of numerous hours spent watching demonstration videos on YouTube of a host of great digital and analogue synthesizers from the 80s and 90s. So, if names like Korg M1, Roland JX8P, Yamaha DX7, Oberheim OB-12, Waldorf Microwave II and Moog Source fill you with fond thoughts, then this soundset might well be for you.

This is not a collection of emulations of classic patches, more a tribute to those deep, crisp, lush, atmospheric sounds, with an added edge of modern synthesis options courtesy of Massive’s aggressive waveforms, oscillators and filters.

Polaris is full of huge, sweeping pads; bright, elegant leads; pulsing, bubbling basslines and synth sequences; punchy, harmonic basses; plus, a few old skool synth percussion sounds.

Massive Polaris is designed as a ‘go to’, workhorse synth collection. Whatever the project, there’s a beautiful, detailed and dynamic Polaris sound waiting to be used. This soundset is particularly useful for deep, atmospheric electronica (ambient, chillout, downtempo), electronic film scoring and also more club-friendly EDM genres (trance, house, progressive).

Variety Of Sound updates Rescue MK2 free VST effect

Variety Of Sound has updated its free Rescue MK2 to version 2.1.

Rescue MK2 is a sophisticated mid/side based transient processing device which not only allows detailed ’3D’ imaging control but also fancy transient compression and distortion with dynamics that remains vibrant and alive.

Changes in current version:

• Better support for higher S/R (some minor bug fixes in the internal filter coefficient computations).
• Critical parts are running at an internal higher sample rate now.
• The default MIX LEVEL was changed to 0dBFS.

Rescue MK2 is available for Windows 32 Bit VST compatible applications.

239 free presets for Tyrell Nexus 6

Filter303 has released Tyrell Nexus 6 Filter303 Bank, a new free soundbank for Tyrell N6 free VST instrument by Amazona.de.

I produce simple EDM myself and this bank reflects my taste. The sounds consist mostly of fast and aggressive bass and leads, some tempo synced sounds and even some pads and fx. It's mostly simple stuff so don't expect anything groundbreaking Smile

A word of warning for people with older computers is that I used unison mode quite heavily when making these presets. So don't look all that surprised if your computer can't handle it. N6 is quite a CPU intensive synth compared to some others. You have been warned!

The soundset consists of 239 presets. In order to download the free bank, registration at KVR Audio is required.

549 free Roland TR-909 samples by Tonebuilder

Tonebuilder has released FR-909, a sample pack featuring 549 free Roland TR-909 samples recorded thru vintage compressors.

This is a new capture/take on the ever popular TR-909, this time combining outboard vintage NOS tubes and body compression in parallel.
Those signals are then combined and fed into a high-end mastering equalizer to further glue, shape, and focus the sound.

The entire 549 sound collection in 16-bit, 44.1kHz WAV format is available here, complimentary.

MusicRadar releases 193 free trance basics samples

MusicRadar has announced the release of 193 free trance basics samples, a collection of various loops and FX aimed at modern dance music productions. This sample pack was previously featured on Computer Music magazine's cover DVD.

Trance is the electronic music genre that just won't lie down, with its sound continuing to pop up all over the place.

If you're a would-be trance producer this week's SampleRadar collection will give you the basic project elements you need to get started.

The samples are divided into five folders- Beats, DrumHits, FX, Loops and Rolls.

All the samples are in 24-bit WAV format, they're royalty-free, the only restriction is that you are not allowed to redistribute them.
