TSE Audio has released TSE808, a free VST effect- digital emulation of a famous tubescreamer pedal. TSE808 is available for Windows and Mac.
It’s become very common to use a tubescreamer in front of the guitar amp in metal to tighten up the low end and get some extra boost on leads.
