Tonebuilder has announced the release of  Casio RZ-1, a  free drum kit taken from its commercial Driven Machine Drums collection.

RZ1 has a distinct sound, especially the clap and hats. The classic Chicago Jak/House track by Steve Poindexter “Work that Mutha” used the Casio RZ1. The RZ-1 was also used on the Hardfloor album “Respect”.

DMD Chi-Jack has 24/96, 24/44.1, and 16/44.1 Wav plus 24/94 Aif. It also has kits for Maschine, Geist, and Guru. The Wavs will also load into Kong, Spark, Battery, etc.

As usual, the kit also features analog outboard processing… this time I used my new Elysia Nvelope and some nickel transformers. The RZ1 was already low-fi and dirty, so it was essential to maintain whatever fidelity it pretended to have.

Casio RZ-1 free drum kit is available via Facebook, no account needed.
