Bojan Boyss has announced the release of CGC Shaker, a free/donationware experimental percussion sounding sample library that simulates a shaker.

It’s made out of recordings of Camping Gas Cartridges (CGC) filled with sand (and small rocks).

It’s not that very predictive when in use, making similar but always different sound so we used many round robins to emulate that.

We sampled/made instruments of 4 types of shakers, more in the manual.

CGC Shaker is delivered in many versions including 96kHz and 44.1kHz sampling rate, for Native Instruments Kontakt, SFZ players, Akai MPC and Maschine.

Most instrument format versions use 880 samples each and 22 round robins per shaker type of movement. All formats use 24-bit samples. Instruments samples are unprocessed (raw) ie “dry” ready for further processing.

Included in the download is a bonus pack of over 200 loops created with the CGC shakers. They’re recorded in WAV format at 96kHz and 44.1kHz, both 24-bit. They are called organic because they weren’t made with this virtual instruments but with “shakers” themselves.

The loops were not quantized, they have natural swing applied. Also, eq, compression, delay, and reverb are applied to them. The BPM range is 86 and 120, making them very versatile and useful in many tempos.

CGC Shaker sample library is free if you subscribe to Boyss-Sound-e-Scapes newsletter. If you like the plugin and use it in many projects, you can donate to the author.
