Sonus Instruments has announced the release of SinnDrum, a free Kontakt instrument containing samples captured from a LinnDrum vintage drum machine.

The LinnDrum was an iconic piece of Kit. Manufactured by Linn Electronics from 1982 through to ’85 it was the first drum machine to feature actual recorded samples.

Sonus Instruments took their go-to LinnDrum samples, which were collected many moons ago from an old LinnDrum found in cardboard box in a mate’s shed, then they passed them through a Studer A820 2inch tape machine at both 30 and 7.5 inches per second.

They then recorded the samples back into Pro Tools and carefully edited them. The edited samples were loaded into Kontakt and scripted to ensure the interface is simple and easy to use.

SinnDrum consists of 61 Mono samples (24bit/44.1kHz), including kick, snare, 5 toms (from very high to very low), 3 hats, clap, congas, cabasa, and other percussions.

The Sonus Instruments Sinndrum requires a full version of Native Instruments Kontakt version 5.8 at least (Kontakt Player not supported).

You can download the free Kontakt drum machine at Sonus Instruments website.
