SocaLabs has announced the release of SFX8, a free virtual instrument featuring 8-bit style sound effects and noises (coin, laser, explosion, power up, jump etc).
These presets, which were inspired by the sounds of NES, are split across a 4 by 4 pad configuration. Each sample has 32 configurable parameters, including waves selector with 9 types, attack/sustain/punch/decay, compression, frequency cutoff, HP/LP filter cutoff, vibrato speed & depth and many more. You can create your own preset configuration by selecting the desired sounds from the bottom-right row.
SFX8 is based on SFXR and BFXR software projects and its audio engine is open source. It is available in VST and AU plugin formats (32-bit/64-bit) for Windows and macOS. The download is instant, you won’t be asked for any registration.
