Free Blindfold EQ Plugin

AudioThing has released Blindfold EQ, a free 4-band equalizer plugin for Windows and macOS.

Blindfold EQ has been inspired by a quote by Matt Wallace from the book Recording Unhinged by Sylvia Massy.

If I were King of the Universe, consoles would have no indication of frequency near the EQ knobs, because when you show the frequency, then most people EQ by eye. […]
But seriously, you should have no idea of what frequency you are boosting or cutting. It doesn’t matter what number is. It matters how it sounds and how it feels. That’s it!

Therefore, the plugin has 4 bands (LowShelf, LowMid, HighMid, HighShelf), but each knob is blind. There are no indicators or numbers to show frequency values, gain values or Q values. You have to use your ears. Below is a video demonstration of Blindfold EQ:

Blindfold EQ comes with a resizable window and preset system with randomizer. As plugin versions, AudioThing included VST2/VST3/AAX for Windows and VST2/VST3/AU/AAX for macOS (64-bit supported). The download requires an email address.
